In The News: SUVs The Home Wrecker

People always think that SUVs are the safest cars to drive around.  They are big, strong, and can shield its passengers.  Besides its cool look, it seems to symbolize power.  But it’s not that all cool and not all powerful.

Because SUVs are big, it’s trouble when you can’t find a space in the parking lot where you will fit.  You can’t do something with traffic jams, and you will never be able to take the narrow streets.

 

Another thing that is not quite cool about SUVs is the way they wreck homes leaving residents and in some cases drivers and passengers severely injured.

 

SUV Smashes A Home In Shively

The SUV banged into a bedroom in Shively at around 4:40 a.m. on July 23, 2018.  The owner was right in his bedroom when the incident happened.  Thankfully, not even one was hurt during the incident.  But the man and woman who were passengers of the vehicle took off right after their car crashed into the room.

 

SUV Lose Control, Crashed Into A Home And Hits Gas Meter

A teenager driving an SUV lost control causing the car to crash into a home in south Reno early Tuesday, July 31, 2018.  The said SUV overturned and hit another vehicle that is parked in the driveway which accidentally was pushed into a gas meter.

 

The teenager driver, who lost consciousness, and another passenger, who suffered minor injuries, were brought to the hospital.

SUV Slammed Into A House, One Injured

At 1:30 a.m. on August 21, 2018, an SUV crashed into a house in Westmoreland County.

 

The driver who was moving down Sandy Hill Road lost control, went airborne, flipped and crashed into the house.  The incident caused significant damage in the kitchen.  The owner first thought that it was just a rumble of thunder, but then realized that an SUV hit his home.

 

The female driver suffered injuries, bloody nose, and some bumps and bruises.  No one in the household was hurt, but because of the damage incurred, they will not be able to live there for a couple of months.

 

SUV Crashed In Front Of A Home In Roy

Police are investigating as to why an SUV crashed into the side of a home in Roy early morning of September 6, 2018.  The incident happened near 3700 West and 5900 South.

 

The accident did leave grave damage to the home, but the driver absconded after the crash.

Driver Of An SUV Got Injured After Smashing A Home In Turtle Creek

An SUV banged into the wall of a home in Turtle Creek around 8 p.m. on September 25, 2018.  Luckily, not a single person inside the house got injured as they were all upstairs when the incident happened.

 

The driver shares the driveway with the family of the house she hit.   As she was trying to leave, she kind of slipped, lost control, and accidentally ran into the side of the house.

 

The driver was brought to the hospital.

 

Hollywood Home Burst Into Flames, 3 injured

In Hollywood, three people were injured after an SUV crashed into a home early Sunday morning, September 30, 2018.

 

A woman was driving the SUV which struck another car.   The SUV kept going until it crashed into the home.  Fire burst out which was quickly extinguished by firefighters.   The driver and two other residents were brought to the local hospital.

 

Black SUV Fled Into The Neighborhood, 1 Dead

In the night of October 1, 2018, a loud bang which was thought to be a clap of thunder by the residents was heard.  They saw that an SUV crashed into a Cape Coral home’s roof and ended up in the swimming pool.

One passenger was pronounced dead, and three others were injured and were hospitalized.

 

The SUV first hit a boat, collided into a gable on a roof, rolled off the roof, bumped into a screened lanai, and landed in a swimming pool.

 

During the reporting of the incidents, the causes of the accidents were still investigated by authorities.   But whatever may have caused the crash, one thing is for sure, properties were destroyed, and some lives were taken.
